Fees and policies:
- The size of our operation and the size of our tour groups dictate that those who travel with us book as a pair. Our experience with pairing individual travelers to create roommates has been less than successful, so we no longer attempt it. Of course, anything is possible, and if you must travel as an individual, contact us for pricing information. Understand that reducing the size of the group increases the cost per person to operate the tour. A member of the tour traveling individually will need to absorb those costs.
- Laughing Raven Touring Co. accepts checks, money orders, Visa and Mastercard. We do not, at this time, offer online booking. To reserve a place on one of the tours, please print the booking form and include it with your deposit.
- At the time of booking, a $500 per person, deposit is required. If your reservation is canceled within 120 days of the booked tour, this deposit is forfeited. (Specific dates are listed below.) If paid by check, your reservation is considered to be pending until the deposit check clears.
- Tours paid for in full (check has cleared by) January 15 receive a 5% ($325) per-person discount on the price of the tour.
- The balance of the tour price is due (check cleared by) 120 days prior to the Fly-In day (day 1) of the tour you have booked for (for Tour 0801: February 6; for Tour 0802: February 19) to avoid cancelation of your reservation and forfeiture of your deposit. You will receive a reminder/invoice at least 2 weeks prior to the payment-due date for the tour booked.
- In the Alaska market it is necessary for Laughing Raven Touring Co. to plan well in advance of the actual tour dates. Penalties we suffer from late cancelations must be passed on.
- Bookings canceled between 90 and 61 days before the fly-in day of the tour booked will receive a 50% ($3250 per person) refund.
- Tours canceled 60 or fewer days before the fly-in day of the tour booked will forfeit the entire price of the tour.
- Laughing Raven Touring Co. strongly recommends the purchase of travel insurance for the Wildlife of Alaska Tour. We offer this link to TripInsurance.com for your convenience.

Some necessary disclaimers:
- It’s assumed that in signing up for a Wildlife of Alaska Tour, you understand that you will be out in remote, natural settings where absolute control of conditions is not possible. While Laughing Raven Touring Co. conducts operations and maintains and operates its equipment in as safe a manner as possible, and contracts with vendors who do the same, events can happen that none of us can possibly be responsible for. Laughing Raven Touring Co. will ask that you sign a waiver that states you understand this and realize that there is a modicum of risk associated with travel in undeveloped regions.
- We also want you to understand that we are taking you to see the realms where Alaskan wildlife dwell and that, while opportunities to see animals are excellent, they are by no means guaranteed. We are at the mercy of their schedules and cannot be held responsible for their failure to put in an appearance during the brief time we have to view them.
- Although we stay in comfortable hotels and eat excellent cuisine, we spend the days outside experiencing various regions of this incredible state. It’s assumed that if you sign up for one of our tours and send in your deposit you’re expecting to hike several miles in a day, paddle a sea kayak in protected waters, and generally enjoy the chance to be out in wilderness-like areas with a day pack on your back ready to deal with the terrain and weather that that day’s travels have to offer. For our part, we guarantee that we aren’t going to intentionally put you into situations that a person of average physical ability can’t handle.
- When we fly from Homer to view bears, we become very aware of the laws of physics that are involved in keeping a small aircraft airborne. Modern jetliners have excess power and are able to accommodate passengers and pieces of luggage of any size or weight. Bush aircraft do not. Safe pilots know this and won’t allow anything to go into their plane that will prevent the plane from flying safely. Do not expect things to be otherwise. If one passenger is significantly heavier than average, then another will have to be lighter, and oversized bags simply cannot be taken.
- The Wildlife of Alaska Tour will be taking its participants into regions and wildlife-encountering circumstances that are not part of daily life for the vast majority of us. It is therefore expected that all those who participate in a Wildlife of Alaska Tour will listen to instructions and directions given to them, and will, to the best of their abilities, abide by them.
